Invertek variable frequency drives steal show at global marine event

Invertek Drives USA received an exceptionally high number of quality enquiries regarding our variable frequency drives at the recent Electric and Hybrid Marine World Expo which took place in Florida.
The latest product developments from Invertek Drives were showcased to key decision makers from the global marine industry including the high-performance Optidrive P2, Optidrive ECO Pump and the brand new general purpose Optidrive E3.

The latter is the latest drive to be released - delivering reliability, high performance and efficiency in a compact, easy to use unit which is ideal for marine environments – and proved to be a big draw among those attending the event.

Tim Perfetto, Head of Invertek Drives USA, who attended the event, said “The international shipping industry has been hit by far-reaching legislation which penalises those with high CO2 emissions. By matching the speed of the motor with the needs of the application,Optidrives can significantly reduce these emissions and thus lower these tax bills.

“That is why our cutting edge technology attracted such a lot of attention at the event from people using boats of varying sizes, but especially barge companies who need to power cranes to load and unload the materials they carry.

“Our Optidrives cut energy consumption of electric motors used in equipment found on marine vessels by as much as 60% and, as a result, ship owners will be able to minimise CO2 emission taxes as well as having their energy bills significantly reduced.

“Many of those attending the event wanted to be able to run a variable frequency drive on direct current (DC) straight from batteries which are charged from solar panels and our Optidrives can do just that, making it a win-win solution for everyone.

“Four people manned the Invertek stand and they were all kept very busy with enquiries throughout the three days of the Fort Lauderdale event.

“This is a highly targeted show aimed at exactly the type of decision makers we want to meet, providing us with an excellent opportunity to highlight both the value and capability of the Optidrive range to a vast number of existing and potential customers and I’m sure our attendance will result in many extra orders being made,” he added.

Optidrive delivers reliability, high performance and efficiency in a compact, easy to use unit made for marine environments. Optidrive includes IP55 and IP66 enclosure ratings, conformal coating and is designed to operate trouble-free in the 50°C temperatures frequently found in environments such as vessel engine rooms. DNV accreditation provides total peace of mind.

Benefitting from extended motor control to cover IE2, IE3 and IE4 permanent magnet, BLDC and synchronous reluctance motors, and also able to control single phase motors, Optidrives are designed to ensure they are easy to use around the world.
